Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2: Release, plot, cast & everything we know so far

Fans were extremely happy after the second and the third run of the Japanese dark fantasy series ‘Rising of the Shield Hero’ was announced in Kadokawa Light Novel Expo 2020. It was scheduled to premiere in October 2021. But enthusiasts are disheartened hearing that the release of Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 has been postponed to April 2022.

A few months back, Anime News Network reported that The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 had been delayed until April 2022. But the website didn't provide any specific reason for the delay. However, according to HITC, the delay may be "related to the ongoing issues with production in Japan caused by the pandemic."

However, the good part is The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2's cast has promised to provide more updates on it in the future. It is likely to introduce more new characters.

What could be the plot for Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2?

Masato Jinbo will direct Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 replacing first season director Takao Abo. He hinted at the plot during Crunchyroll Expo. Naofumi Iwatani, Raphtalia, and Filo will jointly try to save the world and unravel the secrets about Waves.

"A giant enemy called the Spirit Turtle? Being transported further into another world? Naofumi and his friends will have to face various new challenges.”

“How will Naofumi, Raphtalia, and Filo take them on, now that they've matured? I also hope everyone looks forward to seeing the new characters that join Naofumi's party, Rishia and Kizuna," said Masato Jinbo.

Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 might show Japanese protagonist Naofumi Iwatani and his friend growing up. He will remember everything that he has learned in childhood. According to the official trailer, the story will follow after the fight between Glass and Naofumi's party. Naofumi will try to uncover the truth that why monster waves are trying to kill the world's Cardinal Heroes.

Naofumi Iwatani, the young tanuki demi-human girl Raphtalia, and the bird-like monster Filo will also confront a new antagonist. The enemy will be more powerful than before. Naofumi Iwatani, Raphtalia, and Filo will jointly try to save the world. Almost all the cast members would return in the anime series to voice the characters.

 Who could be the cast for The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2?

It seems most of the voice cast will return to The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2. The cast includes Kaito Ishikawa (as Naofumi), AsamiSeto (Raphtalia), Rina Hidaka( Filo), Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Ren Amaki), Makoto Takahashi (Motoyasu Kitamura), Yoshitaka Yamaya (Itsuki Kawasumi), and Maaya Uchida (Melty).
